− | + | | colspan="3" | [[U 558]] sichtete am 16.09.1942 um 09:55 Uhr den Schatten eines Küstenfrachters und lief zum Angriff an. Um 10:59 Uhr schoß Krech einen Torpedo auf das Schiff. Dieser Torpedo traf die Commercial Trader an Steuerbord. Nach zwei Minuten sank das Schiff über den Bug. 7 Besatzungsmitglieder (ein Besatzungsmitglied starb nach der Rettung) und 3 Artilleristen kamen ums Leben. Der Kapitän, 21 Besatzungsmitglieder und 6 Artilleristen erreichten in ihrem Rettungsboot die Insel Tobago und gingen an Land. | |
