| Ursache im Detail

|
| U 158 versenkte am 12.06.1942 um 07:50 Uhr die Cities Service Toledo durch zwei Torpedos die das Schiff an Steuerbord trafen. Da auch U 158 auf dieser Unternehmung versenkt wurde (30.06.1942), liegen keine weiteren Informationen aus dem Kriegstagebuch vor. 11 Besatzungsmitglieder und 4 Artilleristen der Cities Service Toledo kamen ums Leben. Der Kapitän, 24 Besatzungsmitglieder und 5 Artilleristen wurden vom norwegischen Tanker Belinda (17 Mann), dem amerikanischen Dampfer Gulfking und dem panamaischen Dampfer San Antonio (zusammen 13 Mann) gerettet und in Burwood (USA) an Land gesetzt.
