Die 2. U-Flottille entstand im 01.01.1940 durch die Zusammenlegung der 2. U-Flottille SALTZWEDEL und der 6. U-Flottille HUNDIUS. Nach der Besetzung von Frankreich, wurde die 2. U-Flottille nach Lorient verlegt. Sie wurde im September 1944 aufgelöst. Die im Spätsommer 1944 noch einsatzfähigen Boote verlegten bis August 1944 nach Norwegen.
